James Fisher Renewables and EDS HV Group is a leading authority in the design, installation, operation, maintenance and repair of high voltage windfarms. Mainly operating in the UK and Europe, EDS has been serving renewables for over a decade and impacting every stage of the wind farm lifecycle.

We have opportunities across our APAC - Taiwan, South Korea Japan, Europe, UK sites, and beyond.

Due to the success and growth of Renewables EDS we are looking for experienced Fibre Optic Technicians to join us on a <u>contracting</u> basis. As we serve clients across Europe and beyond, willingness to travel is essential, if you have additional language skills this is advantageous so please highlight them on your CV

The ideal candidate will be an expert, highly skilled Fibre Optic Technician who takes great pride in their work and strives to deliver the best service at all times

As a Fibre Optic Technician, you will carry out a range of activities on Fibre Optic Cables both onshore and offshore, utilising different techniques and equipment.  You will uphold the EDS high standards, delivering excellent service to the client.

As we serve clients across Europe and beyond, willingness to travel is essential.  You will need to maintain relevant training which allows access to onshore and offshore environments. You will need to maintain a level of health and fitness in order to be classed as fit by an authorised doctor to carry out such tasks.

Main responsibilities of the role:

·               Routing, glanding, splicing and testing of fibre optic cables, both onshore and offshore, utilising different techniques and equipment.

·               Undertake cable testing and validation reporting, including generation of relevant test reports

·               Reading and understanding splice plans and loss maps

·               Relevant onshore works, including TJB/substation activities and assisting in the maintenance and serviceability of EDS tools and equipment

·               Maintaining high levels of Health and Safety Practices at all times

·               Supporting other EDS departments (within the scope of your expertise) as and when required

·               Any other duties required that will help to further the goals of the Terminations and Testing Business Unit.

Essential

·               Considerable experience in a fibre optic technician role

·               Delivery focused and committed to the achievement of project/company goals

·               Excellent communication skills with an ability to liaise with people at all levels both internally and externally

·               Full GWO certification

·               Valid clean driving license

·               Valid Passport

·               Training in OTDR testing

·               Trained at Fusion Splicing
