LEAD HORTICULTURIST – NURSERY TEAM

Permanent – 40 Hours

We currently have an exciting vacancy for a Lead Horticulturist to join our nursery team within the wider Horticulture and Botany division, which manages all of the zoo’s horticultural features to create the greatest possible conservation impact for plants as well as animals.

The role:

As Lead Horticulturist you will contribute to the management of growing environments and tropical houses on our 125 acre site. You will use the highest horticultural standards for the care and cultivation of our extensive plant collections and in the landscaping and planting of new development projects.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have proven practical horticultural experience with a wide range of horticultural skills and have good plant knowledge
  • Have a NVQ Level 3/HNC Level (or equivalent) qualification in Horticulture
  • Have some experience supervising a team
  • Hold PA1 & PA6 spraying certificates
  • Hold a full driving licence valid in the UK

Experience of using horticultural machinery, as well as knowledge of plant conservation activities would be advantageous for this role.

Hours of work are 40 hours per week, worked 10 days out of 14, including weekends and Bank Holidays as rostered.
