Part time, fixed term contract
The Royal Observatory Greenwich are looking for a passionate individual who is currently undertaking scientific research in the field of Astrophysics to join their Science Learning team. The Science Learning team delivers a world class learning offer for adults, young people, families and informal groups, exploring the science of astronomy and space exploration.
You will primarily be responsible for the delivery of study day sessions for secondary school pupils on a range of astronomy topics, delivering pre-existing content as well as content relating to your own research and academic experience. There may also be the opportunity to get involved with the other activities on offer at the ROG including planetarium shows, teacher training sessions and formal talks.
You must be a confident public speaker with a varied range of skills, knowledge and experience relating to public engagement and a genuine passion for astronomy, space exploration and science communication. You must also be actively involved in STFC funded scientific research, either through post-graduate or post-doctoral work. The role is therefore fixed term and ends when STFC funding ceases at a time to be agreed on appointment. This role is on a part time basis working Fridays during term-time.
