Located in the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Royal Museums Greenwich is comprised of the National Maritime Museum, Royal Observatory, the Peter Harrison Planetarium, Cutty Sark, and the Queen’s House. Its mission is to enrich people’s understanding of the sea, the exploration of space and Britain’s role in world history.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and dynamic individual to join our Executive team and play a pivotal role in supporting the Museum’s ambitious plans and future sustainability. You will take an active role in the formulation of strategy, alongside the development of financial budgets to support the Museum’s business plans. You will provide effective leadership to the accounting function in charge of the financial control for the Museum, and support the strategic management of IT and the Special Projects Unit. If you have a passion to contribute to the ‘public good’ by applying effective and business like methods in the financial area, then Royal Museums Greenwich is the place for you.
Royal Museums Greenwich is part funded through the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, with self-engendered income, from donations, sponsorship and commercial activity, of increasing importance. It is a complex multi-site operation with an expanding profile. Ensuring effective communication across departments is essential, as is working closely and collaboratively with the Board of Trustees.
As a qualified accountant, with significant financial experience, you should have proven people management and leadership skills and the experience of handling external relationships with auditors, lawyers, bankers, and investment managers. Whilst experience of working for a not-for-profit and an interest in arts/culture would be welcomed, it is not essential. We offer flexible working and welcome applications made on this basis.
