The European Broadcasting Union EBU is looking for a Multi-skilled Field Producer, News Events & Content.

ABOUT EUROVISION NEWS 

Eurovision News is a premier distributor of quality news content and a provider of news-related broadcast services to EBU members, partners and external clients. The primary goal of the News unit is to serve the needs of the EBU members according to Public Service Media editorial standards and principles.

News Events

The mission of News Events is to provide relevant, added-value broadcast support services for TV, radio and digital platforms, on a cost-recovery basis, serving the needs of the news community reliably and cost effectively. Services currently include support for breaking news and planned event coverage, including: location stand-ups, media centre management, workspaces, live pool distribution, live-streaming, camera crews and editing, technical support, radio and TV studios, transmission facilities and bespoke services. We also partner with event organisers to provide a range of contribution, distribution, production and consultancy services. This is a business facing significant disruption by new technology and changing client needs. The News Events Field Producer will plan events and coordinate and deliver event services on location.

News Exchange

The Eurovision News Exchange is a unique network which provides Members with round-the-clock access to live and edited news stories, as they happen, across the globe. The News Exchange shares content from Members; verifies and clears content from social media; and shares content provided by the News Events team. The News Events Multi-skilled Field Producer will help supply this content and provide on-the-ground intelligence to support the News Exchange team.


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION

Overall, the Field producer will be travelling and present at events approximately 50% of their time. The other 50% of their time will be spent “on the desk”, coordinating current events, planning future events, working on service development and maintaining member and client relationships.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced field producer, cameraman or technician, with broadcast video shooting abilities and a creative problem solver with great communication skills and a detailed understanding of relevant industry technologies.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • 5+ years of experience in the broadcast services industry, preferably with international news experience.
  • Strong journalistic skills (including news judgement and writing in English) and demonstrable knowledge of and interest in global news and current affairs.
  • In depth knowledge of and experience working in the broadcast services industry, ideally on live news production
  • Proficiency in the latest broadcast and IP technologies, particularly related to use in News.
  • Experience working as a TV and/or radio producer, technician or cameraman.
  • Proficiency in shooting and editing broadcast quality video.
  • Proven ability to prioritise tasks under pressure and be solution oriented.
  • Makes good decisions calmly and quickly, even when limited information is available.
  • Communicates clearly with colleagues and is a natural team player.
  • Experience of dealing with multiple stakeholders in complex situation.
  • An understanding of the needs and challenges of EBU members and other broadcasters.

LANGUAGE - excellent command of written and spoken English, any other other languages would be an asset.
