Scale J, 37 Hours per week

Term Time+4 (paid salary £30,617 to £32,308)

Starting from: June 2021 (School opens in September 2021)


We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated Head of Care to join us at our new school in Great Yarmouth, Bure Park Specialist Academy. Bure Park will be a sister school to Eaton Hall Specialist Academy in Norwich which has been graded as Outstanding by Ofsted for over ten years and is currently graded as Outstanding in residence.

This is a newly built residential special school for boys with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs. It will, over its first two years, grow to 88 pupils. We are looking to appoint a Head of Care who will be a key member of the school’s senior leadership team. 

Bure Park will include upto a 36 space residential provision for pupils between Year 4 and Year 8. The multi-disciplinary team consists of Care Staff, Teachers and TAs who facilitate the school’s twin aims of re-integrating pupils into their home environment and when appropriate mainstream school.

This is an opportunity for someone wishing to be part of a highly motivated team and be involved in a unique experience that builds from the ground up. We are looking for people who strive for success and build on established high standards. We view the residential part of the school as every bit as important as the education side. Without residence the pupils would make nowhere near the progress that they are able to. We are looking for applicants who share this view of residence’s central role in the life of the school. Their leadership of  a team of Senior Childcare Officers as well as a care team would reflect this.

Experience of working in a residential special school setting would be beneficial but not essential though some form of leadership role in a social care setting would be necessary. The Head of Care is required to hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for residential childcare or equivalent qualification. Whilst this is not required at prior to the time of appointment any successful candidates would be required to embark upon this qualification. The school would pay for its completion but no additional time would be reserved for it.
