Permanent – 40 hours per week

We currently have an exciting vacancy for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Operative to join our Facilities & Development team to support in general maintenance and labouring duties, carrying out their own allocated works across a wide range of construction disciplines.

The Role:

  • To support and assist the F&D team on general maintenance tasks, daily checks, minor construction projects and general daily duties as required.
  • To actively maintain a due diligence in terms of your own personal health & safety and for those around you.
  • To maintain the standards of the team and strive to improve within your capability.
  • To achieve personal targets and make efficient use of time and material resources.
  • To be part of the team and contribute proactively within your capabilities.
  • Responsible for on-site fuel deliveries of Diesel and Kerosene ensuring all fuel levels are adequately stocked.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a broad range of advanced construction skills and possess competency in carpentry, fencing, ground works, painting & in order to carry out maintenance task to an acceptable quality and standard to achieve a first fix.
  • Have the ability to solve problems and adhere to health & safety guidelines.
  • Be self-motivated, resourceful, flexible, have the ability to meet targets and have a willing to learn.
  • Have a willingness to undertake additional training as required by the needs of the business.
  • Be capable of working unsupervised and as part of a team managing own assigned work load.
  • Be courteous and respectful within a busy, public facing organisation.
  • Have good communication skills.

Hours of work are 40 hours per week, working 07:30 – 16:10 Monday to Friday with occasional duty maintenance hours. There is also a requirement to work rota’d weekends to support the operations of the zoo.
