This is an opportunity to join a developing, high profile service and provide a key contribution towards safeguarding our children and young people in Barnet. The Child Exploitation, Gangs and Missing Co-ordinator is a non-social worker qualified post, which will have an essential outward facing role to support social work teams and the wider partnership in identifying:

  • Why children go missing

The role will ensure that effective action is taken to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people and that best practice in this area is researched and shared. Ensuring that partners respond effectively to the challenges of dealing with missing and exploited young people and are able to undertake preventative actions and relevant safeguarding responsibilities in relation to missing person reports.

The role should be focused on problem solving and responsibilities should include:

  • identification of safeguarding priorities
  • collating and sharing information to aid in the identification of risk (at an individual level and in relation to preventative work)
  • establishing and maintaining multi agency partnerships
  • promoting multi agency protocols
  • assisting in the independent oversight of cases
  • escalating safety and risk critical information that may be pertinent to the investigation
