Headquartered in the heart of Liverpool, with colleagues working all around the world, we are committed to improving health globally, and we are looking for people to join us on this mission.

LSTM is on a journey of transformation to ensure we remain at the forefront of developments in tropical disease and global health. To ensure we can achieve our strategic goals, it is essential that we have the right infrastructure in place across our professional services departments. As a result, we have a brand-new opportunity for a Web Manager to join the team on a permanent basis.

This position plays a critical role in leading LSTM’s digital strategy, focusing on delivering a compelling, engaging, and forward-thinking web presence. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full spectrum of web project management, from strategic planning through to execution and ongoing optimisation, with a strong emphasis on user experience, content quality and technological innovation.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Strategic Digital Leadership:

  • Lead the planning and implementation of the digital strategy, aligning web presence with organisational goals.

Web Project Management:

  • Develop and deliver scalable solutions for web project management at LSTM, which are aligned to the institutional resource model and deliver maximum value for money.

Content Strategy and Design:

  • Work closely with departmental representatives to understand their content needs and challenges, ensuring the central digital strategy supports and enhances department-specific goals and initiatives.
  • Foster the development of the devolved content management community within the organisation, ensuring that content creators across different departments are supported, engaged, and empowered to contribute effectively to the web presence.
  • Establish guidelines, best practices and support systems for content contributors.
  • Organise regular meetings, workshops and forums for the content management community to share ideas, successes and challenges, providing a collaborative and cohesive approach to digital content.

Advanced Analytics and Reporting:

  • Analyse data to derive actionable insights, reporting on website metrics to stakeholders.

SEO and Technical Optimisation

  • Lead SEO efforts to improve search engine visibility and user experience, including site speed optimisation and mobile responsiveness.

User Experience and Interface Design

  • Champion a user-centred design approach, focussing on creating intuitive and engaging interfaces.

  • Take the lead on ensuring that the organisation’s digital platforms adhere to web accessibility standards, including the Wed Content Accessibility Guidelines and any applicable legal requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits of the website and digital content to identify areas where accessibility can be improved, working closely with web developers, content creators, and designers to implement necessary changes.

The ideal candidate will bring a creative flair, a passion for keeping ahead of digital trends, along with the following:

  • Demonstrable experience as a Web Manager or equivalent, ideally from a Higher Education institution, or similar public sector organisation.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing web projects from concept to launch, including overseeing timelines, budgets and resource allocation.
  • Experience in developing and managing content strategies, with the ability to foster a collaborative content management community.
  • Proficiency in using advanced analytics tools to track user behaviour and website performance.
  • Experience in conducting user research and usability testing to inform design decisions and enhance the user journey.
  • Strong knowledge of web accessibility standards and best practices, with experience conducting audits and implementing policies to ensure compliance.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise and compelling way.
