Head of Supply Chain

JFD is the world leading underwater capability provider, serving the commercial and defence markets with innovative diving, submarine and hyperbaric rescue, technical solutions and services. As a key member of the Procurement team, you will provide strategic leadership across all aspects of JFD’s global supply chain, leveraging efficiency, quality and value by fostering sustainable relationships on JFD’s world class reputation for delivery quality and service. JFD has a high mix / low volume of products and we serve our customers by delivering projects, products and after sales services.


Reporting into the Operations Director, you will be accountable for leading the global supply chain strategy, developing supply chain sustainability and coordinating the direction of your team to embed JFD values ESG position. This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding Procurement/Supply Chain professional to lead and influence a world leading organisation at a global scale. 


Key Accountabilities

  • Developing and fostering strong relationships with vendors and distributors, ensuring quality, value and delivery terms in line with business needs and interests
  • Managing performance of procurement teams across multiple sites by developing and installing appropriate management systems to deliver a high-quality service
  • Continuous improvement of Global Supply chain business processes, ensuring all stakeholders are trained and familiar with the systems and processes
  • Collaboration with James Fisher Group and JFD Commercial to ensure that Supply Chain terms and conditions are maintained and flow down to all vendors
  • Accountable for ensuring Stores management provide a first-class service to all stakeholders, managing stores locations and inventory levels to optimize stock holdings
  • Responsible for management of Project Freight and Logistics
  • Leading and reporting on ITT and Tenders
  • Collaboration with the wider Group and supply chain to optimize, create and negotiate new and existing Framework Agreements
  • Developing and embedding policies and processes which leverage JFD’s ESG position and balance cost and sustainability benefits
  • Develop Supply Chain Team members supporting career development and succession planning across discipline.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications


We’re looking for operational thinkers with strong influencing skills who can deliver results for our Supply Chain team. You will have experience in managing an engineering/technical supply chain and negotiating complex, technical contracts, and subcontracts. You must be degree qualified or be able to demonstrate understanding of effective and efficient procurement. You should be CIPS qualified and have a thorough understanding of the procurement lifecycle and supply chain best practices. 


You will also be an excellent communicator, have experience managing high performance teams, setting aspiring targets and motivating staff under tight deadlines. You will take a coaching and mentoring approach to developing teams and hold a proven track record as a senior member of a strategic team.
