We are looking for individuals with a passion for supporting young people to be successful in their learning.

The Short Stay School for Norfolk is a single countywide institution which meets the needs of a diverse cohort of vulnerable young people from 9 physical locations. Most of our young people have been permanently excluded from school and are preparing for an onward transition to a new school or specialist provision.

The Douglas Bader School educates young people between the ages of 5-16 who have a wide range of complex social, emotional and mental health needs.  

Applications are encouraged from people who have: 

•    Experience of and commitment to working in an educational setting.
•    An adaptive, consistent and kind approach to supporting pupils to achieve their best.
•    Good communication skills and the ability to build positive and professional relationships with pupils, parents/carers and multi agencies 
•    Positive behaviour management skills and are prepared to support pupils individually, in groups and whole class settings. 
•    A level of resilience and an exemplary attendance record.
•    A commitment to training- we care about your training and development and offer regular CPD to enhance your professional skills.
•    The attitude of really wanting to make a difference to the lives of our young people 
•    A team player

This is not a traditional teaching assistant role. This would suit candidates with experience of alternative education and/or youth work.  This is an exciting opportunity to join our supportive, dedicated and hardworking team.
