Senior Technician reporting to the Facilities Manager
The Technician Group is a central support group for the running of all laboratory areas.
The primary purpose of this role is to provide routine lab maintenance as agreed within the team with limited supervision.
Responsibilities include glass washing, waste management and autoclaving, stock checking, consumables ordering, lab cleaning and maintenance, preparing stock solutions, communal reagents and media.
- Regulated Qualifications Framework Level 3 (A-level or equivalent) qualifications or above, preferably in life science subjects.
- Extensive experience of working in a laboratory environment.
- Extensive experience of operating in a lab maintenance capacity.
- Laboratory management experience.
Skills and Competences
- Computer literate and ability to familiarise with different IT systems
- Excellent numeracy and English language skills (both written and verbal)
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to follow protocols.
- Able to work independently after training.
- Strong team player but with the ability to work independently as well.
- Aptitude for continuous learning in order to work independently
- Co-operative attitude.
- Good time management skills.
