To provide first aid to students, staff and members of the general public visiting the academy. To provide any other administrative tasks as and when required.
Responsible for
To provide first aid, store and administer prescribed and non-prescribed medication to students, keeping relevant records, ensuring that academy procedures are adhered to at all times
- To order first aid supplies and ensure all medical history and first aid kits are provided to relevant members of staff for offsite trips
- The keeping and updating of relevant medical records for the whole academy, including official incident report forms, both accident and violence at work
- Contact next of kin/parent/carer in the event of a casualty needing to go home/hospital, and emergency services in the event of a casualty needing to be transferred to hospital
- Liaising with Heads of House and Assistant Heads of House as required. Ensure all medication, including EPIPENS, inhalers etc are in date
- To maintain Individual Health Care Plans for students ensuring a copy is located within the academy staff room notice, to liaise with School Nurse, SENDCO and pastoral staff as required
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness of the first aid room
- Assisting the Designated Safeguarding Lead by reporting instances of concern which come to light through the administering of first aid
- Liaising with outside agencies when/where appropriate to improve student health and wellbeing
- Liaising with the Senior Support Officer to ensure that there are suitable policies in place for safely administering medication in school
- Liaising with the Senior Support Officer and Site Supervisor to ensure that there are adequate risk assessments in place to deal with pupils with medical needs
- Monitoring pupils with particular medical conditions such as epilepsy, diabetes, allergies etc. ensuring that appropriate treatment plans are followed
- To assist in the organization of school health immunization packages
- To attend any necessary training that is required to enable the duties of the role to be carried out
