Individual and Family Therapist for the What's Up walk-in clinic

East Metro Youth Services, Toronto Lead Agency and a fully accredited Children’s Mental Health Centre serving adolescents and their families in East Toronto for over 40 years, is inviting applications for the following full time contract position:

Individual and Family Therapist for the ‘what’s up’ walk-in clinic (1 year, full time contract covering a maternity leave beginning approximately November 2017)

The individual will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing intensive evidenced based services to children, adolescents and their families with a variety of mental health problems.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide immediate therapy support for children, youth, young adults and their families.
  • Support the daily operations of the walk-in clinic.
  • Complete counselling session notes and other documentation related to the program.
  • Be able to support children, youth, young adults and parents who are in crisis.
  • Will be able to apply strengths based therapy; SFBT, Motivational Interviewing, and CBT.

The ideal candidate will have:

 

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology or equivalent;
  • Membership in a professional regulatory association for practitioners in clinical therapy;
  • Minimum of 3 years direct service experience, preferably within children’s mental health;
  • Previous experience working within a Brief Services therapy model;
  • Familiarity with a range of evidence based treatment modalities including SFBT;
  • Strong leadership skills including: communication, and organization skills;
  • Competency in verbal and written communication as well as computer literacy;
  • Speak multiple languages is an asset.
  • Vulnerable Police check will be required prior to commencing position;
  • Preferred candidates will be bilingual in both official languages.

Position details:               Full time position (35 hours per week) flexible hours required (including evenings.)
