To help us on this journey, we are looking for a Data Engineer to be part of our digital and data teams.

As data engineer you’ll be designing and implementing our new cloud based data warehouse and customer data platforms. Working with our data analysts and marketing teams, you’ll be modelling our data management systems and developing data pipelines to provide the business with data it needs to engage on a personalised level with our audiences and make data driven decisions to continuously improve the way we work.

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Developing, constructing, testing and maintaining data management systems and architectures, such as databases, data warehouses and large-scale processing systems.
  • Working with a range of tools and languages to create data pipelines and integrations to connect operational systems, data for analytics, marketing tools and business intelligence (BI) systems. 

For this role, you will need the following skills:

  • Minimum 2 years experience as Data Engineer with previous experience in industry
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining data management and processing systems
  • Experience of schema design, relational and multi-dimensional databases
  • Significant experience of working with SQL (No-SQL and MySQL experience is a plus)
  • Experience of a range of coding tools and languages for ETL optimisation purposes
  • Understand the concepts and principles of data modelling and industry-recognised data modelling patterns and standards and when to apply them
  • Have a demonstrable understanding of how to consume data from systems (for example, through APIs)
  • Experience of data normalisation and denormalisation methods
  • Experience with cloud data warehouses and technologies
  • Working knowledge of information security principles
  • Practical experience of scrum
  • Ability to translate data and technical concepts to stakeholders at different levels in a language that they will understand
