Specific Responsibilities:
- The specific responsibilities of this post are shown below. These duties and workload are self-managed (i.e. planned and prioritised) and are undertaken within required timescales:
- To meet the care needs of a named student(s) with complex physical and medical needs, to help them integrate into the curriculum and life of the academy.
- To administer personal care, using special manual handling techniques, ensuring independence and dignity at all
- To take responsibility for organising and carrying out the procedures required by the student, which may include physiotherapy, time in standing frame, medication as appropriate with advice from the various professionals
- To liaise closely with relevant parents and/or carers, to ensure that our provision is meeting children’s
- To maintain effective communication with all outside agencies to promote the well-being of the students receiving care, which may include Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and any other agencies as
- To ensure that all the necessary equipment is in place, working properly, and reviewed regularly; liaising with other schools and agencies when this is
- To advocate for the student(s) to ensure their time at the academy is as positive and beneficial as
- To attend and report back to meetings concerning the student(s) as
- To keep accurate and up to date records in line with Care
- To support and carry out duties under the Care Standards Act
- To follow the school’s safeguarding
- To provide basic in lesson support for the same student(s), under the direction of the SENDCO and support of the class teacher.
- To monitor and track the behaviour and progress of the student and to contribute to relevant education
- To support students with reading and writing for exam situations.
- In common with other members of the academy’s support staff, the post-holder will also be expected:
- To liaise with parents and the wider community, receive and respond to telephone enquiries and to receive visitors as required;
- To attend inclusion team, staff and other meetings as required;
- To work actively to secure continuing development through participating in the academy's training programme;
- To undertake other duties as may reasonably be
- To proactively seek to improve and develop skills in continuous and professional learning.
