“Being the best version of Sprowston that we can be”

We are looking to recruit a dynamic and passionate Curriculum Leader for English. You will be an outstanding teacher and leader who can contribute to and will lead exceptional provision across the English Department and ensure that there are strong academic outcomes for all student groups. At the same time, our academy ethos is rooted in promoting the personal development of students. We are committed to strong SMSC in English through both the curriculum and the extracurricular offers and we want to promote a love of reading and wider culture so that students can enjoy the links that exist between subjects and develop a thirst for learning. As an academy with a sixth form, it is very important to us that we can inspire students to study English courses to A level and beyond.

Over the last 2 years, significant work has been undertaken in reviewing the design of the curriculum and ensuring that lessons are sequenced in a way that promotes effective learning and acquisition of knowledge and skills. This piece of work is on-going, as is the work on developing a strong and consistent pedagogical approach in both the English department and whole-school.

The English department is a large department made up of experienced and talented colleagues who share a commitment to excellence. The successful candidate will be committed to developing colleagues through well targeted CPD opportunities and effective coaching.

Sprowston Community Academy is a growing 11-18 School serving North-East Norwich. We are exceptionally proud of our place within the local community and our strong local reputation reflects this. We are an inclusive school and believe passionately that students need to be equipped as good citizens as well as good learners. The successful applicant will work with us to fully promote this ethos whilst also striving for academic excellence.
